The Association of Polish Maritime Industries FORUM OKRĘTOWE is the only industry organisation in Poland that integrates companies operating in the maritime industry and widely interpreted ship-building industry. Apart from production shipyards and repair yards, members of FORUM OKRĘTOWE include system and service providers, cooperators and ship equipment manufacturers as well as other companies and institutions which are active in the industry, among them: universities, research and development centres, design companies, classification societies, banks and legal offices. Companies associated within the structures of the Association of Polish Maritime Industries FORUM OKRĘTOWE represent a high professional level. They provide an enormous intellectual potential, employ in total approximately 10,000 employees based on contracts of employment, and generate sales at the level of 7 billion Polish zlotys. The Association's statutory task is to promote, protect and represent the interests of associated members in organisations co-determining economic, political and social conditions of the maritime industry operation.

The Society of Polish Naval Architects and Marine Engineers KORAB acts within the framework of the Association of Polish Engineers and Mechanical Technicians (SIMP) as its branch division, a social organisational unit of a scientific and technical nature, carrying out activities in the area of widely interpreted maritime economy, with particular attention paid to the problems of the ship-building industry. Prof. Andrzej S. Grzelakowski, PhD, is the head of the Faculty of Logistics and Transport Systems at the Entrepreneurship and Quality Science at the Gdynia Maritime University.
His scientific interests are focused on such issues as the development, optimisation and regulation of transport and logistics systems, the efficiency of operation, the mechanisms regulating the TFL segment markets on a global scale, in particular the freight and port markets, and the impact of transport and logistical infrastructure on the efficiency and effective operation of global intermodal supply chains.
Prof. A. S. Grzelakowski authored and co-authored over 480 scientific publications, reports and expert opinions – including 14 monographies and 9 handbooks published both domestically and abroad. He managed and participated in research projects implemented by the State Committee for Scientific Research, RCMS (HORIZON 2020), SMPorts (CBSS). He was also a member of the Advisory Committee for the following projects: IMPRINT-NET and ICE-I in the 7th Framework Programme of the EU.
Prof. A. S. Grzelakowski also held the positions of Consul for Maritime and Transport Affairs at the General Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Hamburg (1991-1997), Under-Secretary of State at the former Ministry of Transport and Maritime Economy, Negotiator of the Republic of Poland in the field of transport with the European Union (1998-2001), Regional Research Section Manager at the Institute for Market Economics (2002-2003) and a Director of the MBA Programme at the Gdańsk Foundation for Management Development (2003-2007). Since 2002, he has been holding the position of the President of the Supervisory Board of the Port of Gdynia Authority.

He has been professionally active in the port trade for over 30 years. He has been engaged in the operation of port terminals in Gdansk and Gdynia as well as in the development strategy for the port of Gdynia. Founder member of the European Technology Platform on logistics ALICE at the European Commission. Since2017th the councilor of the National Chamber of Commerce.
In recent years he has managed the BCT container terminal which belongs to the international group ICTSI since 2003. Since 2013 he has chaired the Port of Gdynia Business Board. He is the initiator of numerous activities aimed at the development of the port in Gdynia – its deepening, developing transport infrastructure between the port and its back office facilities, e.g. revitalization of the Coal Trunk-Line Gdynia – Silesia and the construction of the Baltic-Atlantic Corridor. He is active when it comes to improving the port business environment, e.g. streamlining customs clearance or improving fiscal conditions for entrepreneurs providing services for Polish foreign trade, making national and international laws applicable to port activity, development of innovative IT and communication technologies which support logistics and other.

He has been a member of the Polish International Freight Forwarders Association since 2001,in 2006 he was appointed its President. The main aims and tasks of the Association are to protect and represent the interest of its members before national government and administration bodies, local self-governments and international associations of freight forwarders; to provide access to domestic and international information, in particular in the context of Poland’s membership in the European Union; to organize trainings, symposia, conferences, conventions within topics of interest to the Association’s members. Polish International Freight Forwarders Association is a member of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations "FIATA" in Zurich, a member of the European Organisation for Forwarding and Logistics in Brussels "CLECAT", a member of the National Chamber of Commerce and an associate member of the Polish Chamber of Maritime Commerce.
